Inclusion at Urbis

At Urbis, we’re proud of our inclusive workplace. One where differences of gender identity and expression, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, physical ability, lifestyle and religious belief are valued, respected and supported.

We work hard to foster a culture where individuals can be themselves at work, every day. With inclusive policies to support all employees and their families.

Our Inclusion Committee and regional inclusion working groups are united by a passion for continuously progressing our diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Ensuring everyone at Urbis benefits and belongs.

Careers Inclusion 2

For us, inclusion means...

Supporting First Nations employees and reconciliation

We’re committed to implementing our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan and actively embedding First Nations cultures and worldviews into the solutions we create for places and communities. Each year, we contribute to National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week, showcasing incredible art by First Nations artists and partnering with First Nations communities to enjoy cultural walks and traditional activities.

We value our partnership with Aurora Education Foundation, [insert logo] creating meaningful career pathways for First Nations people.

Our First Nations Cultural Learning Strategy helps to build advanced reconciliation and cultural understanding within our organisation through continuous learning and reflection.

Supporting working parents

We believe that a rewarding career and a fulfilling family life go hand in hand. We strive to offer new parents greater scope and choice when it comes to caring for their families while working.

Our paid parental leave includes:

  • 18 weeks of full pay for primary carers (with continued superannuation payments)
  • 4 weeks of full pay for secondary carers. If a secondary carer becomes a primary carer, they’ll be able to immediately access additional paid leave.

We also offer holistic support with our Transitioning to and from Parenthood framework, designed to help parents navigate this significant life change with confidence.

Supporting gender equality and equity

We’re recognised as a WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality. Gender Equity and Inclusion is a core focus for Urbis, as we support Urbis women through:

  • Bespoke sponsorship programs and career advancement
  • Competitive parental leave benefits
  • A commitment to building gender-balanced teams at every level

We are also proud of our Family Friendly Workplace Accreditation, a recognised global benchmark for family-inclusive workplace culture, and a standard we hold ourselves to.

Supporting LGBTQI+ colleagues

We work hard to build safe, inclusive and supportive spaces for our LGBTQI+ employees.

uPride is our employee-run LGBTQI+ group. It creates a space for staff members and allies to connect, share experiences and work together to strengthen inclusion and visibility across Urbis. Providing peer support, mentoring, education and advocacy – and helping to guide our workplace practices and culture.

We have achieved Bronze tier status within the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) in recognition of our LGBTQI+ workplace inclusion practices. But we’re not stopping there, with our next goal to achieve silver, then gold-tier status.

Embedding respect in the workplace and community

An unwavering, non-negotiable commitment to respect sits at the heart of everything we do, in the workplace and the community. At Urbis, you can expect to be treated with dignity and respect from the second you walk through the door.

Respect underpins how we work together, how we support our clients and how together we ensure everyone experiences a fair and inclusive workplace.
