Jack Backen is a seasoned expert in the economics of property performance, with qualifications in economics, law, and finance. Since joining Urbis in 2005, Jack has focused on projects across Asia and is a founding director of Urbis’ Singapore entity, Cistri. While Jack’s primary expertise is in the retail sector, his experience spans office, residential, and hospitality properties. His portfolio includes projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Japan, Indonesia, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Qatar. Jack delivers comprehensive economic research and analysis, covering demographic analysis, property market performance forecasting, market demand studies, financial feasibility, highest and best land-use studies, and strategic master planning advice. He is also an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and serves on its Asia-Pacific Research Committee.
