Urbis has again been recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality through the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA). The citation is designed to encourage, recognise, and promote active commitment to achieving and maintaining gender equality in Australian workplaces.

“Urbis is thrilled to be recertified as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality through the WGEA,” said Connie Hansen, Group Director People and Culture, Urbis.

“Being recognised by WGEA is an important milestone, but we have more work to do. Gender equality requires constant attention and courage to challenge legacy systems and practices. At Urbis, we’re committed to continuing this work because inclusive workplaces deliver better outcomes for our people, our business and our clients.”

WGEA CEO Mary Wooldridge congratulated Urbis for our commitment to be recognised through the Workplace Gender Equality citation.

“Holding the Workplace Gender Equality Citation provides national recognition that Urbis is deeply committed to positive action to achieve gender equality in their workplace,” Ms Wooldridge said.

“Citation holders demonstrate strong gender-equal outcomes at the moments that matter most to our people. They go beyond policy and programs, embedding gender equality into the everyday employee experience.

“Committing to clear targets and using insights from employee surveys, these employers turn data into action, strengthening safety, fairness and opportunity for everyone in their organisation,” she said.

    Criteria for recognition covers:

    • leadership,
    • learning and development,
    • gender remuneration gaps,
    • flexible working and other initiatives to support family responsibilities,
    • employee consultation,
    • preventing sex-based harassment and discrimination, and
    • targets for improving gender equality outcomes.

These criteria are regularly strengthened to reflect best practice.

We look forward to maintaining and building on our commitment to gender equality in our workplace.
